KAJIMA COCKRAM INTERNATIONAL PTY LTD (ASIA) HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY

Kajima Cockram International (Asia) and its subsidiary companies: Cockram Projects (Shanghai) Construction and Engineering Co., Ltd & Scenario Cockram Asia is committed to respecting human rights of all stakeholders including customers, employees, and communities where we are located. KCI (Asia) and its subsidiaries respect laws, labor practices and customs in the countries where we operate, ensuring alignment with our standards and codes of conduct. We strive to be a positive influence in communities, demonstrating that respect for human rights fosters successful businesses and people. KCI (Asia) and its subsidiaries embeds our commitment to compliance, ethics, human rights, sustainability, privacy protection and community engagement.

This policy is established based on alignment of Kajima Group Human Rights Policy and Guided Principles on Business and Human Rights of the United Nations: Implementing ‘Protect, Respect, Remedy Framework’.

Kajima Cockram International (Asia) and its subsidiary companies: Cockram Projects (Shanghai) Construction and Engineering Co., Ltd & Scenario Cockram Asia and The Kajima Group respects the International Bill of Human Rights, the ILO Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Children’s Rights and Business Principles, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact, and other international standards related to human rights.

  • SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACE

    The safety and health of our employees a primary importance to our organization. We act to provide a safe and healthy workplace and comply with applicable safety and health laws and regulations, as well as internal requirements. We work to provide and maintain a safe, healthy, and productive workplace, in consultation with our employees, by addressing and remediating identified risks of accidents, injury and health impacts.

We also provide appropriate explanation about working conditions, education, training, and welfare to ensure employee’s safety.  We assure employees to report occupational accidents injuries and encourage to raise their awareness.

  • WAGES, BENEFITS AND WORKING HOURS

    We compensate employees competitively relative to the industry and local labor market. We work to ensure full compliance with applicable fair wages, work hours, overtime, and benefits compliant to wage laws. In addition, we do not reduce wages in an unfair manner. We responsibly manage our employees’ working hours, holidays and leaves to avoid excessive overwork.

We schedule our work with contingency to spare and take safety measures, and we do engage our employees to be assigned in harsh construction work or similar activities.

  • FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

    We respect our employees’ right to organize a union without fear of reprisal, intimidation, or harassment. Where employees are represented by a legally recognized union, we are committed to establishing a constructive dialogue with their freely chosen representatives. The Company is committed to bargaining in good faith with such representatives.

  • HARMONY WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES

    We get actively involved with local communities where we conduct business activities, and we endeavor to establish and maintain a good relationship with the communities.

  • HUMAN RIGHTS OF FOREIGN WORKERS

    We care and respect the human rights of foreign workers including interns.

  • REFERENCE TO THE RIGHTS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

    We pay attention to the rights of Indigenous people as detailed in the laws of the country or region where business is performed as well as those rights provided in the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention No. 169, and other international agreements.

 

GRIEVANCE MECHANISM (WHISTLE BLOWER HOTLINE PROGRAM)

Kajima Cockram International (Asia) and its subsidiary companies; Cockram Projects Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd & Scenario Cockram Asia has established Whistleblower Program under our Global Ethics initiative is to promote work with integrity and encourage employees and others to raise serious concerns internally so that the company can address and correct inappropriate conduct and actions. We also promote a non-Retaliation policy and ensuring all reports are under a Data Privacy & Compliance Act.

We also encourage and provide awareness to all employees to report any concerns about violations of our company’s code of ethics or suspected violations of law or regulations that govern the Company’s operations.

We encourage the Reporting Person/s to identify themselves when making a Report because more detailed information and follow-up questions may require investigating the Report efficiently and effectively. However, a Reporting Person can submit a Report anonymously if he/she wishes to do so through our Global Ethics Whistleblower hotline, keeping in mind that during the investigation it may become necessary to identify the source of the Report. If a Reporting Person chooses to report anonymously, he/she must provide sufficient specific and verifiable facts that will enable the Company to investigate and address the Report.

To ensure proper Integrity and management of our Global Ethics – Whistleblower Hotline Program Policy for Kajima Cockram International (Asia) and its subsidiary companies: Cockram Projects (Shanghai) Construction and Engineering Co., Ltd & Scenario Cockram Asia, the Ethics and Compliance Governance group formed consisting of its following members:

  • Kajima Cockram International (Asia) – CEO
  • Vice President – Asia
  • General Manager, Division General Manager
  • Group KCI HR Manager
  • HR Manager, Divisional HR Manager

All reports made under the Global Ethics Whistleblower Hotline will be thoroughly investigated under the direction and oversight of the Ethics and Compliance Governance Group were in they have an authority to engage in legal counsel and such other specialist as he/she deems appropriate to assist in the investigation. The Group KCI HR Manager will administer the over-all reporting to the Ethics and Compliance Governance Group for necessary investigation, report findings, or recommendation if required.

 

CORRECTION AND REMEDIES

Kajima Cockram International (Asia) and its subsidiary companies; Cockram Projects Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd & Scenario Cockram Asia on an instance is found or have caused or been involved in any adverse impact on human rights, we correct and provide remedies by appropriate means to ensure respect for human rights and avoid human rights infringement.

 

IMPLEMENTATION & TRAINING

We operationalize our human rights obligations through our Code of Conduct, supported by a comprehensive communication, continuous awareness, and training program. More broadly, our ambition is to expand this training into more specialized programs and initiatives that seek to drive heightened awareness and understanding regarding human rights.

Kajima Cockram International (Asia) and its subsidiary companies; Cockram Projects Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd & Scenario Cockram Asia understands that the detailed issues to be addressed will change as the society and business trend changes and continues to review this policy on a regular basis through dialogue and consultation with its stakeholders and external experts.
